| Appeal to the Brothes of Union For the Charity and Relief Fund |
|
Brothers,
I
am writing to you today on behalf of poor distressed brother Master
Masons from Union Lodge #40, their Widows, and Orphans. This year, at
the suggestion of W.B. Bob Miller, Union Lodge has started a Charity
Relief fund in order to assist those of our Masonic family who are in
need of our assistance. At our regular stated communications, donations are ernestly
solicited from those brothers in attendance to build up the fund
balance for this purpose. Recently, we had reason to pay out the
balance of this fund to a needy and worthy brother. I understand that
many of our members, many for legitimate reasons, are not able to
attend lodge as frequently as they might like, and to help with the
ongoing labors of the craft. It is with this fact in mind that I am
sending this special appeal letter out to all the membership, so that
those who are able can fulfill our obligations to "contribute as
liberally as you can do without injury to yourself". I am hopeful that
this appeal can become an annual event for an extremely worthy cause.
I can certainly understand that some of us are not in a position to help, and that is OK. For those of us who are in a position to help, I would like to thank you in advance for your participation. Even a small donation of $10 or $20 dollars would go a long way to further this worthy cause. My Father's very wise words of wisdom still ring in my ears "Many hands make light work". It takes many hardworking brothers, working together, to make any Lodge a success. You can make your checks payable to Union Lodge #40 with a notation "Charity Fund"
Sincerely,
Christopher T. Gould
Worshipful Master
